As of the 1st of January, Elwood's '61 Chevy truck was in pieces laying around the shop. With the TBC crew and a few Road Devil members the truck came together just in time for The Lone Star Round Up! Since I was working all the time, I wasn't sure I'd have anything to make the drive to the event. I was thinking about trailering the MyShit54, and but I wasn't going to be called a trailer queen........ Tuesday the 2nd I worked all day and into the night (about 24 hrs) to get the '54 ready, along with finishing up a few things on Elwood's '61. Wednesday the 3rd came about and we were set to leave about 9am. Geoff's '30 Ford coupe had already proven to be a driver, a few years ago it was built and driven across the country from N.C. to Viva Vegas!
We left Wednesday morning about 10am and drove late into the night stopping in Tuscaloosa, AL to rest the beating hearts of the beasts that we drove. (At this point I'd been up for 41 hours straight) Next morning came early, and our goal was to reach the Texas boarder, which we did. Stopping for a photo, we hit the road again making it into Austin, Texas about 1am Friday morning.
Getting up early, we headed out to the show. We were all tired but our adrenaline was pumping. We set a goal to build a truck, and take two more cars on a trip of about 1300 miles to participate in such a cool event of kustoms that I don't think we really cared about sleep.......The 2nd day of the show was by far one of my favorite, meeting new faces and hanging with old friends. All the cool cars/trucks at the event were among the best from around the country that get driven! Always a treat to see guys like Brian Bass, Bob Bleed, Ed Tillrock, Gene Winfield, Rocco, Keith Weesner and many more.
The Road Devils had their "World Run", where members came from all over the world. They were the biggest club there, and all of them were cool to hang out with. Never a dull moment, everyone seemed to have a great time. About 30 to 40 people to manage, it was like a well-oiled machine. Big props to all that made it happen for them to get together at once, I'm sure there will be many more get-togethers soon.
Really want to say thanks to Jennifer, Elwood, Candi, Geoff, and Chris for a cool azz ride to Texas! And thanks to Josh, Jessica, Scott, Tara, and Oscar for the trip back and a place to stay. The Road Devils "World run" crew for a great time!
